Privacy for kids
Working draft 0.1 for legal review, not yet in force.
Hi, I'm Bro!
I'm the Brotelo robot owl. This page tells you, in simple words, what Brotelo keeps about you and why. Your parent or guardian has a longer version, called the Privacy notice.
What Brotelo keeps about you
- The nickname your grown-up chose for you.
- Your age, or the year you were born.
- The avatar you picked.
- Your PIN, if you have one. We keep it locked away.
- The slides you finished, your quiz answers and your scores.
- Your certificates.
What we never ask you
- Your e-mail, your phone number or where you live.
- Photos or videos of you.
- Where you are right now.
There is no chat on Brotelo, so nobody can send you messages here.
Why we keep it
- So you can carry on where you stopped.
- So you get your certificate when you finish a course.
- So your grown-up can see how you are doing.
Your grown-up can see your progress
Your parent or guardian can see which courses you started, what you finished, your quiz scores and your certificates. This helps them help you, and celebrate with you!
Who else can see it
- Nobody else, unless your grown-up decides to let people check one of your certificates online with its special code.
- A few companies help us run Brotelo, for example the company that looks after the computers where Brotelo lives. They must keep your information safe and cannot use it for anything else.
- We never sell your information, and you will never see ads on Brotelo.
Your certificate
Your certificate shows the name your grown-up chose. It stays private unless your grown-up decides to share it.
Changing or deleting things
Ask your grown-up if you want to change your nickname or avatar, or to delete your profile. When a profile is deleted, everything in it is deleted too.
Who to ask
- If something on Brotelo confuses or worries you, talk to your parent or to another adult you trust.
- Your grown-up can write to us at [email protected].
- If something worries you and you want to talk to someone, in many countries you can call 116 111 for free. It is a helpline for children.
Learning is more fun when you feel safe. See you in the next course!
